Nerd Glasses: New Trend?
Tuesday February 20, 2007
Revered Actress and Style Icon Scarlett Johansson, received an award from Harvard University on February 15th, naming her the "Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year".
Instead of accepting the honor covered in fur or draped in diamonds like most celebrities would have, Johansson instead opted for a more unusual accessory; thick black framed, wayfarer-style "nerd" glasses, ala influential 1950s rock n' roll singer, Buddy Holly.
This isn't the first time we've seen a daring entertainer sporting this look; stars like Ashley Olsen and Dita Von Teese have recently made appearances wearing similar chunky black frames.

Eww…I hope that trend doesn’t stick around too long. They’re honestly really ugly.
I’m having trouble with this one. I think the glasses look really good on HER, but what about the rest of us. When you see a young woman in the mall with huge frames you feel bad for her.
She looks great!
I like to see any young girls with glasses.
Usually they look more attractive.
Also one of my friends is very similar to Scarlett Johansson but I have never seen her with glasses.
Nice to see Scarlett wearing specs again, she looked stunning in the movie Scoop wearing round glasses and although these black ones look a bit ott, they are great! Now come other celebs, where’s your specs appeal??!!
