Can You Believe These Jeans Are Almost $10,000!

Wednesday January 23, 2008

We all know the prices for so-called 'designer denim' have been skyrocketing over the past few seasons, but this takes the cake: Earnest Sewn has teamed up with luxe jewelry brand Van Cleef & Arpels to create some limited-edition, outta-this-world expensive jeans. Van Cleef is the bauble company best known for its clover-shaped Alhambra necklaces (Paris Hilton and Reese Witherspoon wear theirs all over town), and the two styles of jeans in this collaboration are adorned with removable gold chains that can be worn around the neck or doubled up as a bracelet. Each pair will be numbered, signed, and sold at snooty auction house Christie's. The going price? A cool $9,700! Personally, I would rather have a car.

that’s ridiculous. they really aren’t even that cute. if you did want to do something like that, how hard would it be to DIY? i mean, seriously.

(2) Jillian says:

I wouldn’t pay $60 for them.

(3) Brittany says:

should we encourage eating disorders like anorexia by constantly promoting those sickening images of scarcely there people on t.v. as we do? Everyone needs clothes moron! In your case you should spend less time browsing the net and more time with your face securely inserted into a dictionary!

(4) Heather says:

I agree with marie, big people have a hard time finding clothes, we want to look pretty too!

May 16, 2008 at 3:42 pm
(5) kristin Brown says:

you shouldn’t only be allowed to wear beautiful clothing if your a size two! i wear size 14/16 but i am 5′11, my family is also very curvaceous and my doctor even said it would be extremely hard for me to get below a size 9 or ten. providing clothes for overweight people doesn’t promote ‘overweightness’ (as you say), it promotes confidence, because its hard to exercise and work toward something if you think you are ugly or dont have the confidence to work toward a smaller size. anorexia isn’t pretty either- your still ugly on the inside.

(6) Keyana says:

This site is a great idea! for the people who think it is not they are narrow minded. I am a plus size teenager and people like you make it hard for everyone else. Some people are plus size because of other health reasons. I hope you can sleep at night knowing that you are the reason why so many people have eating disorders and image problems. So what if I rather eat a cookie than, eat a salad.

(7) britteney says:

yeh uhhh jaynie no one encourages over weightness sweetheart but yu dont expect bigger ppl to walk around looking a mess we need good looking clothes just like any other person and it is not the same case for everyone being overweight so think before yu speak

(8) erica says:

yea i agree how can you make an ignorant comment like that and dont know how to spell.WOW, anyway you can be full figured and still be healthy the only reason they say your overweight is because you dont fit a scale that says you should be a certain weight at a certain height. Now i dont agree with this scale because you dont have to be skinny to be considered healthy…..but anyway im a full figure woman and proud of it i dont have to live up to someone elses standards in order to be proud on myself i dont need a scale made up by someone that believes you should be a certain weight because im happy being the size that iam and wearin the clothes that brings out the curves god bless me with

(9) Abby says:

Honestly! Do you want me to go naked? I bet you’d have some kind of issue with that as well… having to look at my “overweightness” in the nude! Pull your tiny head out of your skinny arse and look around you!

(10) Nancy says:

Yes, the more plus size teen fashion options available, the better a plus size teen feels about themselves, the easier it is to lose weight! Self esteem is a huge issue for teens, especially plus size teens and great styles and fashion are a must for feeling good about yourself. Plus, plus size teens deserve good fashion, just like everyone else! And thankfully the fashion designers and retailers now realize there is a major market for Size 12 and up clothing. wow, thats a harsh comment, some people are just born fat &have medical problems. and if your against this whole thing, why are you even on this site?!!

August 31, 2008 at 3:41 am
(12) Nikki says:

overweightness? is that wat u meant? did you make that up all by yourself? *claps & gives cookie* haha. apparently where ever you came from they should encourage education more. i personally rather be thick and smart then dumb like you.

September 17, 2008 at 8:43 pm
(13) Rebecca says:

Seriously.. If companies didn’t market to plus size people what would they wear? Big girls need nice clothes also. Too many companies market to “skinny girls”. Not to mention, losing weight isn’t that easy. Do you honestly think so many people would be overweight if it were that easy to lose?

October 7, 2008 at 4:24 am
(14) jane says:

How would that encourage being overweight? you honestly think that? you cant cater to just one size, even if it seems like thats whats happening!
your obviously not happy with yourself..you have serious issues!

(15) Hannah says:

that really hurts im a 16 year old girl with diabetes so its hard to lose weight im ashamed that people in our country still hate plus size people. Big IS Beautiful you just got to get use to it

January 3, 2009 at 4:30 pm
(16) jasmine says:

I agree with Marie! Just because were bigger does not mean that we are not beautiful. Plus some larger women have medical problems that keep them from losing weight. So I think that this is a great idea. Oh and by the way overweightness is not a word.

January 24, 2009 at 9:05 pm
(17) Caitlyn says:

would you prefer all us plus sized teens and kids to run around naked?

February 2, 2009 at 10:18 pm
(18) Ada says:

Jaynie You sound so ignorant … If it’s like that then we should also close down all the stores that sell size 0 or double zero so we wont cause anorexia. Why don’t you just keep quiet sweetheart you sound smarter that way.

March 13, 2009 at 12:09 am
(19) Reese says:

Personally, being a plus size teen, I think its wonderful there are places I can shop and not look like a old lady. This is one of the reasons why I’m in fashion school now.

Not everyone is meant to be a size 6 even a size 2. You are what you want to be in all essence. And as long as your happy thats all that matters in life.

March 17, 2009 at 11:39 am
(20) Megan says:

Being Plus Size doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re overweight. You can be a big person and wear a plus size, and be among the healthiest in your friends. Also, sometimes people wear plus size because it leaves enough room in the hips – my hip bones stick out, and I still wear a plus size, simply because my hips are so much wider than other types of pants accomodate. So people who wear plus size are not always overweight. They are beutiful people, and deserve to celebrate their curves.

April 28, 2009 at 12:13 pm
(21) Tracy Hamilton says:

My 14 yr old daughter is a plus size girl and has a hard time finding those “in fashion” clothes. We usually have great success when shopping at Cato Plus and a place located in the Blur Ridge Mall in Hendersonville, NC called Maurice’s. Both of these places have great sales prices and we both leave happy! They even carry “in fashions” for her plus size Mom!

May 1, 2009 at 7:35 am
(22) momofgirls says:

I agree. My 12 year old is overweight and has such a hard time finding stylish clothes to wear. She’s not happy with her weight but should she have to look like a grandma while she struggles with her weight and tries to fit in at middle school??? Come on!

May 2, 2009 at 3:19 pm
(23) leigh says:

dude what do you want us to wear. just because we are not size zero dosent mean that we still cant look noce and not frunmpy. have you ever been a big girls and try to finde cloths? its stinkin hard expecially when you live in a small town.

May 22, 2009 at 10:24 am
(24) Jenny says:

wow…Jaynie is obviously ignorant. im overweight and i need clothes. should i become a nudist? i was born over weight. always have been. and evenm for people who are trying to get more slim, it doesnt happen over night so they still need clothes to wear while they are in the process. encourage overweightness? how does that make you sound? to me, it sounds pretty ignorant.

June 4, 2009 at 11:29 pm
(25) Kimmi says:

As an overweight girl, I am losing weight but as I do so, I still want to be cute. Just because people gain weight or arn’t skinny, they shouldn’t be punished. They still have lives, boys they want to impress and just want to look cute. I mean should we sell hats, it only makes people lazy about doing their hair.

June 5, 2009 at 11:39 am
(26) Karina says:

Just because I wear plus sized clothing does not mean that I am overweight. I play volleyball, basketball, softball, and I run track. I have very muscular thighs and calfs, so the LOWEST size I can wear is a 12. So next time you want to make fun of plus sized women, remember that most of them have either a large build, or they are very muscular.

June 15, 2009 at 2:02 pm
(27) Carly says:

I don’t think anything “encourages overweightness”

If someone is “encouraged” to be overweight by clothes, then they’re a dumbass, and should not represent a whole in any way.

June 18, 2009 at 3:04 pm
(28) handover says:

I think it is a great idea for bigger people to have high fashion, sometimes it’s not that persons fault there might be a health issue or maybe they were just made that way..being big doesnt lessen your value in anyway I wish everyone could be treated the same and have the same styles in bigger sizes and not have to pay more..

July 11, 2009 at 1:11 am
(29) Lindsey says:

ok seriously.. let’s put it into perspective. Being overweight is JUST as bad as being underweight. So why do people who are a size 0 have clothes that look great available to them no matter what, but people who are size 18 get crappy stuff..how is that fair? it’s not! You aren’t encouraging it, you are adjusting to it. No one complains about skinny people being TOOOOOO skinny and still having designers making clothes that fit them. You can’t say “if we don’t make clothes that fit and look good, they will be forced to lose weight so that I may enjoy not having to look at them in ugly clothes” thats stupid! How about we take the cute clothes away from the runway models that starve themselves to be a size 0, how about that one. Instead of saying it’s not good to make clothes that look great on people that are bigger than average, how about we say people arent all tiny just cause you aren’t doesnt mean that you dont deserve to look cute!

July 11, 2009 at 8:33 pm
(30) Richelle says:

I think that plus size people also need clothes that fit, yes we are a little bigger then most women, but what are we auppose to do? Women that are smaller then us have stores that fit their needs! why can’t we? we don’t hurt other people by being a little overweight and if you can’t handle the fact that we also have stores that fit our needs then you need to grow up!!

August 3, 2009 at 9:21 pm
(31) Erin says:

Maybe if clothes weren’t made so cheap and skimpy, more people would be able to wear them. Everyone deserves to look good and everyone should have the chance to look and feel good about themselves.

August 5, 2009 at 4:59 pm
(32) vicky says:

well said Marie. so many ignorant people these days.

August 12, 2009 at 1:42 am
(33) Monica says:

Wow, Jaynie…

Bitch much?

I myself am a size 4, but who the f*** decided what was “over-weight.” We are who we are I believe people should have the option to wear whatever they want. Do you think that companies shouldn’t produce extra strength makeup for people like you, who need to cake it on with on your fugly face with a cement mixer just because you want to look “nice” too. Don’t discriminate your malicious bitch!

August 13, 2009 at 9:40 pm
(34) Karen says:

Perhaps we should stop selling makeup so unattractive people won’t be encouraged, or stop educating stupid people…the list goes on. Jaynie needs to look a little deeper than what’s on the outside!

August 14, 2009 at 12:16 pm
(35) angela says:

well you know there are people in the world that used to be a size 4. but then this thing called giving birth happens. and you no longer are a size 4 you are a size 16. so take your rude comment and shove it! not everyone in this world is skinny and if you got blessed with it than great but don’t look down on people that aren’t. you know what I exercise every day and chase after my 2 year old and eat properly. so what exactly do you expect us to do?

August 14, 2009 at 2:45 pm
(36) Clare says:

Excse me…but I happen to be “overweight” but overweight isn’t always a horrible thing as Jaynie put it. Being CURVY is a beatiful thing! It’s when people let t go to extremes that it becomes obesity. I weigh 188 lbs. and I am okay with it! We are people also we just happen to be buit differently. So yes we should promote finding clothes to better fit us! We deserve it as much as “skinny” people do. So think before you say prejudced things about CURVY INDIVIDUALS!

August 17, 2009 at 12:41 pm
(37) Jen says:

Potato sacks are quite flattering, I’d say :)

August 31, 2009 at 9:41 pm
(38) Manda says:

So what your saying Jaynie is you also think we shouldnt make Size 0 clothing to encourage teens to be that skinny/ or even anorexic? xD You’re so lame. Go back to eatting your donut, and shush. That was the stupidest comment I’ve EVER read.

September 2, 2009 at 6:13 am
(39) amelia may says:

Plus size shops are not encouraging overweight or obesity, its simply helping plus size people to wear clothes that actually fit them.

i am a plus size girl myself, and i love the size i am and i loveeeeee shopping online for plus size clothing because i can actually find appropiate clothing that fits me properly. I feel way comfortable and more confident wearing clothing that actually fits me properly then wearing clothing i brought from the local clothing shop and having to force myself to squeeze into it, and by doing that, it just doesnt look right! And the bonus about plus size clothing, especially brought online, is that you can garantee you wont find any one else wearing the same outfit to your next function.

enough said.

September 4, 2009 at 7:13 pm
(40) Laney says:

Its absolutely rude of people to be derogatory to any one who is over weight. Some people have medical issues for why they are or have harder time losing it. Just because anyone is overweight doesnt mean that they want to wear trash.

October 22, 2009 at 11:52 am
(41) taryn says:

i guess since were overweight we should be “punished” to ugly sweatpants for life right? but no ones stopping annarexic girls in a size 2 from buying whatever they want because theyre unhealthy. they can destroy theyre bodies and health all while being told how good they look. please, dont breed. youre backwards thinking belongs in the past.

November 4, 2009 at 9:16 pm
(42) arynne says:

jaynie. you’re a joke. do you really think “overweightness” is encouraged in our society? I suggest you go to any magazine rack in any store, and I promise you that AT LEAST 90% of major magazine covers have a picture of a female under a size 5 .

November 8, 2009 at 3:05 am
(43) Emma says:

Im plus size and last time I checked I was not heavy I am just big boned as most of the “Over-weight and heavy” People are so maybe you shouldn’t be searching about it.
