There's a trend creeping down the fashion pipeline that I find particularly icky - girls are wearing their black leggings from last summer as plain 'ol pants!
It started fairly innocently enough, with certain high-profile gals like the Olsens and Lindsay Lohan rocking their tights under longish button-down shirts, but then when I was at fashion week this season I noticed a couple of magazine editors (hello, Nylon) eschewing proper attire for shiny latex legwear. I was hoping that this fad would limit itself to just the crazy hipster NYC/LA areas, but when I was in the Indianapolis airport this weekend I saw a pantless wonder picking up her luggage at baggage claim.What is up with this trend? No matter how skinny and perfect you are, it is not flattering to wear skintight leggings and nothing else - I promise, because I have to walk behind you!

What is so wrong with them? Flash back bother you? I kind of like them. IF they are worn with the right top….which is a larger longer top. But it has to be the right top. But if you wear a short tight top, forget it….Then you have trashed it.
Can we make a law limiting who can wear them? The problem will be people who should not get near leggings, wearing them.
Who effing cares? Fashion-uptights eventually and unknowingly fall in line after awhile. It’s just a matter of slowly altering people’s outlook on what is “acceptable” apparel. Without fashion risk-takers, we wouldn’t have many of our ‘eccentric’ beloved designers (i.e. Jean Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, etc.). Like a Mao suit, clothes would be homogeneous and boring.
leggings as pants? What’s the big deal. At Rutgers University in New Brunswick NJ I saw one student wearing footless patyhose as pants with a short shirt and you could clearly see her panties underneath and the cotton crotch was visible from the front or back. Another girl wore opaque pantyhose as pants again with a short shirt and yes you could see the cotton crotch from the front or back. And I’m sure many other girls are doing the same on campus I think this is a trend that is hear to stay. Get use to it!
