Tip: A Little Tailoring Makes All the Difference

I recently went to the Barney's Warehouse Sale, which is basically a mad free-for-all shopping event where items are seriously discounted and thrown together in an unorganized mass in an open warehouse. If you have the patience to dig through the bins, there are some great items to be found. Why is this relevant, you ask? Because I learned that with the right tailoring or some inventive sprucing up, you can make a great fashion find into a fabulous wardrobe staple.

For example, I found a fantastic jacket marked at 90% off (no kidding!) at the sale, but there was a button missing. Well, I took it to the local fabric store and bought all new buttons for the coat, and it cost me a whopping $7.52 to refurbish. The same thing goes with old clothes that you have in your closet that you don't wear anymore: You can have a tailor shorten the skirt of a long dress to make it into a mini, or even re-work a loose-fitting pair of pants to fit you properly. Just food for thought...
