I Love Fashion's Night Out and Shoshanna

You may have heard some of the hype surrounding Fashion's Night Out (there was certainly a lot of it!), but this was one event that actually lived up to the hoopla.

Created by American Vogue magazine and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in an effort to motivate consumers to shop and stimulate the economy, last night on September 10th New York City came alive with mobs of shoppers and fashion lovers as many of NYC's stores stayed open until 11PM. There were so many celeb appearances, freebies and passed hors d'oeuvres that it was almost dizzying, but somehow I managed to keep my head and soldier through (I know, someone's gotta do it).

I started the night at Bergdorf Goodman, where I wove my way through the stylish masses and bought a limited-edition Alexander Wang T-Shirt commemorating the occasion. While I was there I caught a glimpse of my favorite twins MK and Ashley Olsen as well as Posh herself, Victoria Beckham, but by the time I left the store it was so crowded that they weren't letting anyone else in! From there it was a harried stroll down 5th Avenue, making pit-stops in Prada, Gucci, Versace and Kenneth Cole (where Matisyahu was performing) until I reached Saks Fifth Avenue.

Like Bergdorf's, Saks was a madhouse, but it somehow seemed more manageable, probably due to the fact that the space is larger. I spotted model Coco Rocha right off the bat in the Bobbi Brown cosmetics department, and then made my way to the 5th floor where Justin Timberlake was scheduled to make an appearance for his brand William Rast. But instead of allowing just anyone to see JT, there was a private party in Saks' 5th floor cafe where folks that purchased $300 of William Rast clothing that night were invited to meet 'n greet Sir Sexy Back. I wonder how many people bought stuff just to meet Justin and then returned it later? Naughty girls! But I digress...

Since the throngs of people were all on the 5th floor trying to make eyes with JT, I decided to go down to the 3rd floor for some air - and lo and behold, there was clothing and swimwear designer Shoshanna Gruss of the brand Shoshanna! I have met her before (Shoshanna has been kind enough to donate her dresses to a charity called Girls and Boys Town that I volunteer with), but it is always so awesome to talk to a fashion person that isn't so "fashion-y." Chatting with Shoshanna capped off an amazing FNO for me, so I thought I would share a pic of the two of us hanging out at Saks!
