Prescription drug abuse is rising on college campuses throughout the country, and some Central Michigan University students recently used their fashion design skills to raise awareness of the problem.

The students - from CMU's apparel merchandising and design program - created fashion pieces using pharmaceutical products, calling their finished product "Generation Rx." They cut up recycled prescription bottles and glued the pieces on the back of a doctor's lab coat, and also affixed pills to ballet slippers (pictured, below).

In addition to modeling their designs in the school, some of the students also handed out informational flyers on prescription drug abuse to passing students.
This is one example of how fashion can be more than frivolity and have a positive impact on the world. Bravo!
