Rent the Runway

I have recently discovered a website called Rent the Runway - and I think it's going to change my life.

The site is basically a place where you can rent the latest, hottest dresses and accessories for a few days - like say if you have a school dance or prom to attend - for much, much less than the retail price.  And really, once you've made an impression in a certain dress, everyone will remember it if you wear it again - so it's a great way to keep your wardrobe fresh!

I recently had an event where I needed a fab dress, so I perused RentTheRunway.com to check out their options. I was really surprised to see that they carried lots of  high-end brands like Herve Leger, Matthew Williamson, Helmut Lang, Badgley Mischka, Christian Siriano and Catherine Malandrino, to name a few.

Now what's cool about the company is that they let you pick out TWO different sizes of the same dress for one price - so you can make absolutely sure that it's going to fit on the big day.  They will also let you add two sizes of a second ''back up dress" for just a few dollars more.

For my event I wanted to make a splash, so I rented a Robert Rodriguez lace jumpsuit (retail price $525) for $75, as well as this Nicole Miller neon-accented mini dress (retail price $450) for just $25 more.  So basically for $100 - less than the price of most evening dresses - I got TWO fabulous options to wear.

Jumper Miller

The day before the event my garment bag full of dresses arrived, and I felt like a kid in a candy store opening them up and trying them on! I ended up wearing the jumpsuit to the event, and then I rocked the Nicole Miller out to dinner the next night. When I was finished with both, I just put the dresses in the pre-paid envelopes provided and dropped them off at the post office. Pretty amazing, I have to say.

Right now Rent the Runway is an invitation-only website, but if you'd like to rent a dress or sign up just to check out the goods, use this special invitation code. Happy browsing!
