I was so stoked to see Alber Elbaz's Lanvin collection for Swedish fast-fashion retailer H&M - which officially goes on sale November 20th - but now that I'm starting to find out how much these pieces are going to cost, my excitement has turned into disappointment.
For example, this yellow dress (pictured below) will set you back $199:

And these two frocks are $249 each!

So what gives? I thought the point of a brand collaboration was to provide a consumer that wouldn't normally get to obtain a piece of a high-end designer's work a chance to own something from that label.
To be completely fair, there is a pair of $19.99 sunglasses in the line...and a dress from the real Lanvin line will set someone back at least a couple thousand dollars. But still...doesn't this seem a bit excessive?

NO! It does NOT seem excessive!
Lanvin has been building that name for decades – lots of them. If you wanted a little yellow dress with a K-mart label, you might expect to pay the K-mart prices.
Lanvin has been making fashion happen for a long time and what they sell is STYLE.
I agree with you. I know Lanvin is definitely a high class, well respected fashion label but I think the prices are to expensive for people who normally shop at H&M. I think the price point should have been closer to H&M’s. I’m really disappointed…
