Project Runway winner Christian Siriano held his fall 2011 fashion show at New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week last night, and it was surprisingly subdued.
Black dominated Christian's runway and most of his pieces were pared down in shape and scale, without much flourish. The only colors Christian added into the mix were an olive green and a very dusty rose.

His final looks were dresses that had more going on (like this flouncy black number, below), but for the most part the show was elegant and a real departure for Mr. Siriano. I think he's trying to establish himself as a respected designer instead of a television personality - and this collection will probably help his case.

In the meantime, Christian is still doing a line for Payless - and it's much more of what you'd expect. My favorite shoe of his spring/summer line is the $49.99 Zanzi Fab Wedge (below). It's pretty fierce, as Christian used to say.
