About the Program: Following a two-year core curriculum of required introductory courses, including liberal arts/general education and fine arts foundation studies courses, undergraduate students progress into upper-level courses in their major course of study. The undergraduate program emphasizes design, fashion sketching, forecasting, promotion and presentation and provides a strong technical background in garment construction. Senior fashion students design and present a final collection and a professional portfolio in support of their individual career goals.
Facilities: Facilities and equipment in Savannah and Atlanta reflect current industry standards as well as the most up-to-date technology to support learning and career preparation. Sewing studios are equipped with customized dress forms, cutting tables, industrial sewing machines and sergers. Fashion department computer labs offer Internet access to online subscription services, such as WGSN and here & there, and individual workstations that support computer-aided design software.
Special Events: Through the annual Savannah College of Art and Design Fashion Show in Savannah, juried collections of undergraduate and graduate student work are showcased in a major production. Special guests have included Vogue Editor-at-large André Leon Talley and renowned international designers Oscar de la Renta, Miuccia Prada, Tom Ford and Zac Posen.
