About Blair and Elle Fowler:
Blair and Elle Fowler, aged 16 and 21 respectively, are the youngest ever makeup artists at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! They were the official makeup artists for the Minnie Mortimer installation and even modeled in the Clandestine fashion show.
The duo began their young-but-illustrious careers by hosting their own YouTube channel shows - AllThatGlitters21 is Elle's, and Blair's page is Juicystar07, and they receive millions of views for each instructive video they post.
Below is my interview with makeup artists Blair and Elle Fowler:
How Did You Both Come to Love Makeup So Much?:
Blair: We have always been very girly and have had a natural love for beauty and fashion. We played with makeup even when we were in grade school, so it’s only natural that once we got older we totally fell in love with it.
What motivated you to start your own blog and post your videos?:
Elle: I found the YouTube beauty community in July 2008, and completely fell in love with it. After watching it for a week straight I decided I wanted to take a chance and put myself out there – and I am so glad I did. I started my channel,
Allthatglitters21, that summer and it is still growing! In January, after really getting into videos I pushed my little sister Blair into making a channel, and now she is just as obsessed with it as I am.
Where do you get your inspiration for your makeup looks and videos?:
Blair: I do lots of neutral, everyday looks that young girls can wear and relate to, but I also love pulling inspiration from the runway and magazines.
Elle: Even art, nature, stories, anything! Inspiration comes in the most random places.
What teen or young celebrity's makeup would you most like to do, and why?:
Blair: Selena Gomez is so beautiful. Her look is always natural and glamorous, but if I were her makeup artist I would love to see her with a bright lip.
What advice would you give to young girls about following in your footsteps?:
Elle: Don't be scared to take the first step and upload that first video – it’s the hardest one! Make sure you do your videos on something you are really passionate about, because you don’t want to get bored on the topic one week into starting your YouTube channel or blog.
How did you get hired to work at Fashion Week, and what was it like?:
Blair: Minnie Mortimer reached out to us because she had seen our makeup videos. We worked with her and then it was word of mouth that got us to other shows.
What Are Your Future Plans?:
Elle: As of now we love what we are doing, and it has been working for us. We are going to continue with our passion and see where it goes!
