Another season is stocked in the stores, which means it's time to discuss spring 2010 clothing trends. Here are the runway versions of spring 2010's hottest fashion trends:
Ditsy Florals
Tiny flowers, Liberty prints, ditsy florals - they're all describing the same sort of teeny tiny floral print. As seen on Ralph Lauren's runway, these florals work great on spring dresses, but they'll also be cropping up on bags, hair accessories - you name it.
Lingerie Looks
Brands like Christian Dior (pictured) and Marc Jacobs were loving the lingerie look, even going so far as to show bras over the top of shirts. While I certainly don't recommend that look, there will be lots of silky camisoles to pair under blazers and cardigans this season.
Military
The military trend comes around every few seasons, but it's especially strong in 2010 thanks to the brand Balmain's sculpted-shoulder jackets. Victoria Beckham and Beyonce are already huge fans, so you can expect the army jacket idea to trickle down through all the price points in the near future.
Neon
Acid-bright neon yellows, greens and pinks were all over the runways, as seen here in a dress from Milly by Michelle Smith's spring 2010 collection. It's definitely a daring choice to go all-over bright, but a belt or accessory is a more wearable way to try the trend.
Printed Leggings
The legging craze is still going, and this season the trend is to cover them in psychedelic, crazy prints. Givenchy showed these black-and-white wonders, and multicolored Pucci-esque versions will also be in stores.
Tie-Dye
Not your momma's tie-dye, spring 2010's version is less hippie and more art nouveau. Proenza Schouler updated a little evening dress with an acidic version of the technique.
Tribal Prints
Tribal prints including ikat have been strong for a bit, and they're still going for spring 2010. Diane von Furstenberg showed her version on the runway in orange with pops of fuchsia, but the prints will be at retail in virtually every color combo.
Shortie Shorts
If you've got fabulous legs, this is the season to flaunt 'em! Designers like Rebecca Taylor showed micro shorts paired with everything from flowy blouses to suit jackets, so I expect that this trend will trickle into fall as well - only just paired over thick tights.
