About Melissa and Susan: I adore the way that sisters Melissa and Susan Vitale mix colors, patterns and textures for a unique, one-of-a-kind look. Neither of the girls are afraid to try new things, which makes them stand-out style stars in my book.
Ages: Melissa is 14 and Susan is 17.
Hometown: Bethlehem Township, New Jersey
What They're Wearing: The girls live in New Jersey, but they are frequent travelers and pick up great fashion finds along the way. When I spotted them this is what they were wearing. Melissa said about her outfit:
"My dress is from H&M, I bought the jacket at Century 21, and the leggings are from a boutique in Baltimore, Maryland." Susan said: "The jeans are Citizens of Humanity, the shirt is from Mystique Boutique, and the jacket is from a tiny boutique in SoHo, NYC."
How They Describe Their Style: Although they're related, the duo definitely has different fashion tastes. Melissa explained that her style is "unique, rocker chic," while Susan said she is more "sophisticated chic."
Fave Places to Shop: Melissa and Susan are very in-the-know when it comes to shopping, so I asked them to share their favorite stores. Melissa said: "I love H&M and Forever 21 because each has adorable, original styles that are right in my price range." Susan said: "Before I got my driver's license, I was the queen of online shopping. Alloy.com and Victoriassecret.com are two of my favorites." But now that she can drive, she says that "Bloomingdales and Jasmine Sola are my favorite stores because of their mix of brands and styles. I also like Express because its styles make me feel mature but chic at the same time."
Style Icons: One of the ways these girls get inspiration is from checking out what celebs are wearing. Melissa said she gets ideas from Sarah Jessica Parker, Aly and Aj and Alexz Johnson, while Susan added: "I think celebrities, like everybody else, have good and bad fashion days. But a few that I really admire are Mischa Barton, Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria."
How to Get Their Style: I asked each sister for their fashion advice, and they came up with some great ideas! Melissa said that "You don't need to spend tons of money to look good. Go for a unique style that's all your own," and Susan explained: "Appreciate your own unique style, but at the same time, always remember to stay comfortable."
