Anastasia Dennis is a fifteen-year-old who has really impressed me both with her great fashion sense and her willingness to strive to achieve her goals. Anastasia dreams of becoming a fashion designer, and she's already taking classes to make it happen. In this photo she paired a sweater from H&M with Christian Audigier jeans for a fresh casual look. How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style is very unique. I like to stand out with my clothes, I don't really like to go with trends, or what is "in" because then I just look like everyone else. I really like my clothing to be simple but still fashionable.
Where do you get your inspiration for fashion looks?
I get my inspiration from city lifestyle. I just came back from New York, and I really loved how the women there were so fashionable and so put together, but they still had to be comfortable. I also liked that their clothing was so versatile, that they can go from work to a date in the same clothes.
Do you have any favorite fashion stores or brands?
My favorite stores are H&M, Urban Outfitters, and American Apparel. I really like these stores because there really isn't one set style in the store, and you can stay true to your own style. My favorite designer is Balenciaga, because it is minimalistic, but so fashionable.
What would you like to do in the future?
In the future, I would love to be a fashion designer. I either want to work for a major designer or become an independent designer.
What steps have you taken to become a designer?
I was attending Parsons School of Design for the summer, and I was taking a Fashion Design class. I have been taking these classes since my freshmen year in high school (I am now a junior). I took these classes because I want to go to Parsons School of Design for college, and this class helps me become a better artist and designer.
What advice would you give younger teens about having great style?
Some advice I would giver younger teens about having great style is just have fun with your clothes and don't go along with trends or what is "in" at the moment. Great style means that you are unique and creative, and you let it show through your clothes.
