Blair and Elle Fowler, ages 16 and 21, are professional makeup artists and YouTube channel stars - so they know a thing or two about getting ready for a night out.
Whether you choose a smokey (or smoky) eye or want a more natural look, there are some definite trends for Prom 2010 makeup. Here are some prom makeup tips from makeup artists Blair and Elle Fowler:
What makeup looks do you think will be the trendiest this prom season?
Elle: I think that smokey eyes are always in, and will be this prom. Smokey eyes with a nude, glossy lip are my favorite for formal events, like prom. For this I would just use a dark grey or brown shadow and smoke it across your lid, using lots of liner and mascara. It doesn't have to be crisp; it can be a bit messy! Then use a soft blush like a light peach or pink and a nude, shiny gloss.
Blair: It's always best for prom or an event that will have pictures to go neutral with a medium (berry) lip. The reason for this is so when you look back on your pictures you won't cringe at your makeup - it should be classic.
If someone isn't used to wearing much makeup, what do you advise she wear?
Blair: Do a neutral, bronze eye shadow with a light pink blush and a berry lip.
Elle: And make sure to add lots of mascara and make sure to curl your lashes! This makes a huge difference in brightening your eyes!
Are there any makeup "Don'ts" to avoid for prom?
Blair: Being too trendy; pick one area on your face to focus on.
Elle: Don't wait until the morning of prom to try on your 'face.' Practice makes perfect, and you don't want to be stressed out on your big day.
