I read that the humble T-shirt got its start back in World War I, when soldiers wore undershirts beneath their uniforms. Well, the tee has come a long way, baby – and so has the price. Although Dolce & Gabbana is selling a logo top for $435 this season (no joke), there are plenty of affordable options out there. Here are my five favorite tees for under $20 each:
1. Target "Organic Pucci Tee," $12.99

Target is on top of its game with this swirly, colorful style. Since the name references Pucci, I'm guessing this is an homage to Mr. Emilio Pucci and his crazy prints, don't ya think?
2. Forever 21 "Distressed 3/4 Sleeve Raglan" Tee, $16

I took Japanese in high school, but honestly I'm not quite sure what this means. But not many people will be able to read it, so you can probably tell them it says whatever you want!
3. Old Navy "Promise" T-Shirt, $16.50

There's a lot to love in this pretty little top: The boat-neck is great for elongating the neck, and the 3/4 sleeves are a nice change from all the super-short ones I've been seeing. Plus the French-inspired graphic is tres cute!
4. Mighty Fine "Hello Kitty Screen Tee," $18.00

JT may have sexy covered, but it's not too late to corner the market on cuteness! This little Hello Kitty tee is just too sweet for words, and will make any jeans and sneaker outfit instantly more fun.
5. American Eagle "Holiday Love T," $19.50
